The Mar Menor or "Little Sea" is one of the major highlights of Costa Calida. It contains 5 islands and its deepest point is not more than 7 metres. On average it is 2 degrees warmer than the Mediterranean and can be accessed by a narrow channel at the northern tip of the peninsula. Two man-made canals traverse the peninsula at strategic points
The resort is 10 minutes from San Javier airport and 10 minutes away from miles of superb beaches. Surrounded by citrus groves, it has a Jack Nicklaus 9 hole golf course, social club and gym, swimming pool, restaurant, bar, hairdresser, beautician, massage and shopping facilities with free parking. The Murcia Region
The Murcia Region is well known for its food and wine & has lots of restaurants. There are hot mud baths at Lo Pagan & Springs at Fortuna. Nearby beautiful old cities, interesting open-air markets, boating and sailing. There is a nightclub and more night-life nearby in Torreviecca, about half an hour away.
The Costa Calida/Almeria region
This region has on average 320 days of sunshine each year. With the lowest amount of rainfall it is an ideal place for your holiday in both summer and winter. The village is located on the edge of the famous Mar Menor which offers a whole host of water sports to suit anyone from novice to expert. The Mar Menor is also famous for The Black Mud which is said to releive pain from rheumatism, arthritis and many other ailments. The water temperature of the Mar Menor in summer reaches 30c and so is a good spot to swim. The region is relatively flat and so this is an ideal spot for walking and cycling.
La Manga Del Mar Menor
The Mar Menor enables you to try your hand at many water sports including scuba diving, wind surfing and water skiing to name but a few. There is bike hire in the next village, aswell as a go-karting track. Horse riding is also available closeby. The nearby villages have markets of varying days of the week and these provide a large selection of fruit & vegetables, meat, fish, household items and many other products. Just a short car ride away there are many more shops and restaurants which offer national and international cuisine at very reasonable prices.
